Choosing The Right Online Business Degree Program

You know you want to enter the fast-paced world of business, so you’ve decided to enroll in an online business degree program. It’s certainly a step in the right direction, but if you haven’t checked out the various online programs available lately, you may be surprised by the many choices now available. It’s certainly a good thing to have so many choices, but it can also be daunting.

The reason so many cyber-schools are now offering a variety of different degrees in their online business degree programs is because there is so much diversity not only in what companies are looking for, but in they type of students that are enrolling in the programs. Businesses are becoming more and more complex, and more specialized every year and colleges and universities are meeting the need by developing specialized programs that address the needs of particular business models and types of industries.

Online Business Degree Programs Are Becoming More Specialized

If you aren’t sure what industry or type of business you eventually want to settle into, a business administration degree may be the right approach. You can get a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree and even a Master’s Degree in this area, which offers classes in everything from finance and marketing to leadership and management. On the other hand, if you know that you want to go into either a specific division or type of management (human resources, for instance), you can enter a more specialized online business degree program in order to obtain an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management.

Some of the most popular business degrees in today’s corporate marketplace include:

Accounting Degrees

These can range from Associate’s Degrees to Bachelor’s Degrees and beyond. You can also get a broad-spectrum degree, such as Private Sector Accounting, or become an Accounting Specialist by taking more advanced courses to add to your expertise.

Administrative Office Management

This is a great online business degree program for anyone who wants to become an office manager. Learning all of the ins and outs of spreadsheets, graphics, accounting basics and everything else needed to organize and communicate information clearly is the core of these programs.

Healthcare Reimbursement

This is one of the fastest growing and most specialized business programs you can major in, and the demand for individuals with this type of training will continue to be strong in the foreseeable future. As insurance plans become more complex, the coding systems and reimbursement paperwork becomes more complex as well. Insurance companies, hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices are all looking for qualified experts in the healthcare reimbursement field.

Human Resources Management

With increasing competition for employees in every business sector, qualified human resources specialists are in demand to help companies recruit, train and retain the most qualified candidates. A degree in this specialized business area will also prepare you to handle workplace ethics situations, contract negotiations, grievances and dismissal policies.

Network Management

This is an online business degree program that builds on computer networking to cover various aspects of network systems management for larger companies.

Many colleges and universities now offer a dozen or more ways to get a degree, whether an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s, that will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to get ahead in the private business or public service sector. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that “a business degree is just a business degree.” Instead, take a look at the wide variety of specializations now available to find the one that’s just the right fit for your goals. Since an online business degree program can be studied at your own pace while you are working, it’s one of the best and most efficient ways to invest in your career.

Aesthetics certification should be sufficient then you can just take 1 or 2 business courses.. an actual degree isnt necessary although it can be helpful.

I go to the UOP online and love it.

If I was wanting to open my own business, I would get and accounting degree this is where you will need the knowledge the most.

If accounting is not your forteit then I would just get a management degree it has some accounting and you can always get more if needed.

I would choose accounting because since you will the owner, you will have to keep your own books and pay your taxes. The business degree will give you the basics, but you will have to be specific in your senior year. Accounting is great because you will touch every subject such as bookkeeping, taxes, financial reporting and auditing. If you don't these things yourself, it would be very easy for someone to charge you 250-500 a month to keep your books and another 900 to do your taxes. By doing these things yourself, you save money and keep someone from ripping you off.

My niece attended University of Phoenix at their campus. She obtained her Business Degree while she was working as a manager in a Spa. Before she went to college she obtained her hair styling license and an Estitition License along with a Massage Schooling and licensing.

Currently, she is teaching Spa management at a private college in Florida. She still works along with her husband in the Spa.

The college degree she got there really helped her. I do think that you need work experience along with the degree.

Good luck with you in you endeavors.

You don't NEED a degree to start your own spa. You need ur willpower and ur money to do it. A degree is needed to work for someone else and not for yourself. You may WANT to take a program or courses to educate yourself on parts of the business that u don't know about. Invest your money into ur business instead of ur degree.
