What's the difference between earning a nursing degree at a university VS. earning a nursing degree online?

Excellent point Ralf. Don't know why I never thought of that.

As both a college instructor who's taught on campus and online, and the author of a new job search book that came out in October, let me answer your question.

Nursing is a very hands-on profession where you are dealing with people's lives. In other words, if you don't know what you are doing, you could wind-up killing somebody!

Because of this, no patient would feel comfortable with a nurse whose only training was done online without ever stepping foot in a classroom. And no hospital or medical facility would feel comfortable with a nurse who was simply trained online and that's it. Why? Because the risk of that nurse hurting somebody is much greater! And as a direct result of this, malpractice insurance would be much higher! And the potential of our being sued is vastly increased!

Which would you trust to take a blood sample from your baby?

A nurse who learned how to draw blood by reading it online?

Or one that had practical experience learned from a live, experienced instructor?

At a nursing school on a physical campus, you get hands on training. Earning a degree online just helps you with medical knowledge and not the hands on training needed to actually perform the job duties.

I also believe it helps and it is more of an advantage to have a nursing degree from an actual established, certified physical campus with a great reputation than a school that just offers a degree online for something so demanding.
